Contact & Initial Discussion

After you contact us, I will ask a bit more about your design or education needs to make sure our services are a good fit.  During the phone consultation, we will be able to discuss:
  • Your goals, objectives and challenges
  • Timeline
  • Next steps

Initial 15 min consult is free

Site Assessment

We begin with an on-site consultation to understand your vision, goals, site conditions and assess factors such as water flow, soil health, microclimates, vegetation, access, wind exposure, and solar orientation to identify opportunities and challenges unique to your property. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions, explore ideas, and receive practical, site-specific recommendations. Following the consultation, we'll discuss potential design solutions and provide pricing for design services.
The site assessment will address your questions and offer expert guidance along with practical, site‑specific recommendations to help transform your landscape. Topics may include:
  • Design Goals — beauty, food production, habitat, recreation, and resilience
  • Plant Selection — climate-appropriate edible, native, and ornamental species
  • Water Management — rainwater, groundwater, and greywater harvesting strategies
  • Soil Health — building fertile, living soils naturally
  • Low-Maintenance Systems — no-till, water-wise, and low-weed approaches
  • Gardens & Infrastructure — beds, orchards, tunnels, fencing, and other features
  • Livestock Integration — incorporating animals into productive landscapes
  • Natural Pest Management — ecological solutions for pests and diseases
  • Erosion Control — improving infiltration and reducing soil loss
  • Chemical-Free Growing — regenerative practices that eliminate synthetic inputs
  • Resource-Smart Design — using local, reclaimed, and site-based materials

Whether you're starting with a small backyard garden, developing a homestead, restoring a landscape, or planning a larger farm or ranch project, our goal is to help you create a thriving, climate-adapted system that benefits both people and the land.
On-site visits are $115/hr within 30 miles of Edgewood (most visits last 1-1.5 hrs). Fees for visits outside this range vary by distance and property size.

All we need to live a good life lies about us. Sun, wind, people, buildings, stones, sea, birds and plants surround us. Cooperation with all these things brings harmony, opposition to them brings disaster and chaos.
